Gordon State College (GSC) is hosting a four-week, grant funded Summer Leadership Development Academy to prepare prospective first-time, full-time college students for academic and personal success in college. 


Held July 1 – July 27, 2026, this program provides first-time, full-time college students the opportunity to earn four college credit hours in a required course applicable to their GSC degree.


In addition to college coursework, students will take part in leadership development training, and workshops designed to enhance their ability to navigate college life. Housing, meals, tuition for ENGL 1101 and FIRE 1000 courses are provided at no cost for selected students for the duration of the 2026 Summer Leadership Development Academy. 


Full attendance and active participation are required throughout the duration of the program. 


All prospective 2026 LDA students must:

  • Complete a Gordon State College Admissions Application and submit the 2025–2026 FAFSA for the Summer 2026 term and the 2026–2027 FAFSA for the Fall 2026 term. Tuition for ENGL 1101 and FIRE 1000 courses will be fully funded.
  • Attend a New Student Orientation seminar prior to beginning the 2026 GSC Leadership Academy (July 1st).
  • Live on campus during both the summer LDA and Fall 2026 semester (housing and meals are fully grant funded for the duration of the 2026 Leadership Development Academy duration only).
  • Attend and participate in all college courses, development workshops, study sessions, and enrichment activities during the LDA.
  • Uphold the GSC Student Code of Conduct throughout the program.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student (15 credit hours) for Fall 2026.
  • Identify as a first-time college student
